obd1 or obd2?
I've got a 1994 Acura Integra and I'm trying to read sensor values through the 3 pin OBD1 port but not having any luck. What protocol is it using? I've got an ELM327 but it's not clear how to connect the 16 pin OBD2 to the 3 pins. Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah the ELM327 is for OBD2 but supposedly it supports some of the OBD1 protocols, there was some hint that someone had success with that approach. A 3 pin Acura plug (gnd, rx/tx signal, 12V) -> 16 pin OBD2 adapter supposedly for honda/acura (ebay) routes the rx/tx signal to ping 14 on the connector, which is ISO15765-4 (CAN Bus Low). I routed that single pin to all the potential pins on the 16 pin OBD2 connector and told the ELM327 to autodetect / connect but it always errored out.
I can read the blinking light codes fine, what I want is to just read all the live data values if I can. The car is failing smog in california for excessive CO (carbon monoxide) at 25 mph. The MAP seems to be outputting good values, the throttle position sensor is fine, I've replaced the heated O2 sensor and there has been significant improvement but at $75 per attempt to pass smog I want to be sure...
