any ideas on what to do next to my 97 integra gsr?
so i have had my gsr for about a month now and just ordered new full bodied coilovers for it and control arms. i want to get a chipped ecu from one of my friends, but after i do that i dont know what direction to go. i am running on a tight budget but wanna get the most performace out of my car as i can. let me know any ideas on how to make a cheap but fast car. ik the saying you have to pay to play but frankly i have no money to pay right now i just want to go fast. im new to this honda stuff and am really getting into it. thanks for the help!
Yeah im running all stock internals right now. Thinking about cams but pointless uless im over 350whp. Idk what to do lol i wanna boostit bbut dont have the money
why dont you work on bolt ons for now that will aid for boost in the future?
first things first...do a full and complete tune up. cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, pcv valve, air filter**(intake), fluid exchange everywhere(motor, tranny, ps, coolant(thermostat, hoses), clutch, brake) and timing belt, water pump, tensioner if they are close to due.

I agree with other posters: make sure the engine is in good running order and start with basic bolt ons: intake, header, exhaust, cams. If you don't have money for fast, you'll never be fast. And ditch the chipped ECU until you can get it tuned, preferably after you get some cams... which are not cheap. Don't forget about the suspension too.
When upgrading cars, remember these basic rules:
cheap + fast = not good
good + cheap = not fast
fast + good = not cheap
thanks a ton! the reason i was asking about the cams is because one of my friends told me i can use the stock cams up to 350whp. so i figured they would be a waste of money if im no where near that power. i have and intake nnr full body coilovers and full exhaust with headers and everything. my friend told me a chipped ecu is the best thing to start with. idk what i should do. whats more power? cams or ecu?
first piece of advice is to stop listening to your friend. second is to start reading and stop asking questions. when you have a specific question about something, then ask. open ended questions like this go nowhere.
this site has been around for years. i think any question you may have has already been asked and answered 10 times over.

He is probably saying ecu because as you add parts you will need to tune to get max potential out of them. It's smart but it seems like you need to do some reading to figure out what you really want out of the car.
And definitely stop listening to your friend. And forget about the ECU for now.
