Options for my leaky valve seals
As most of you know from my build thread the motor I got has terrible valve seals, I temporarly pored "no smoke" in it to keep it from looking like a 007 car.
Anyways I got two options at this point, I'd like to know the disadvantages and advantages of each. Thanks.
Option 1
brand new head for 50, all oem valve seals and everything checked by machine shop. Copper spray on my head gasket if its not completely gone. Re use head bolts.
Option 2
Pull my head replace my valve seals for 20 bucks, Copper spray my head gasket, and reuse head bolts. I would like to do this but whats the chances the head is warped? Never been overheated to my knowledge and doesnt blow any white smoke.
I know re using a head gasket and head bolts is HORRIBLE, but if I dont stop having to buy a quart of oil every 100 miles I'll go broke. I'd obviously like to do this the right way but funds are limited for the next couple weeks cause of tickets.

Hey if you do the work and don't mind pulling the head go for it, it is your time. I assume the bolts are original? I would just go with new oem bolts at least maybe 40 bucks if that.
By the way where can you get a head for 50 bucks that is not used?

Might look into OEM head bolts thought they were more.
I know a kid that lives in my town he took it off his car and had it completely re done at a machine shop. Looks brand new and if tolerances are in spec it should be good. He wants 50 for it right now I'ma low ball him at 20 and a hasport EF mount lol.

OEM headgasket is about 36 bucks retail not discounted.
Bolts are like 3 bucks each.
You can get a Felpro headgasket for like $25 with coupons.
I'd re-use headstuds, torque 5ftlbs more than usual, get a new headgasket, and new valve seals. Advance auto rents the valve seal tool. Should cost you $50 tops.

Well advance said the headgasket was right around 60 I used my last 50 dollar off 100 dollar coupon last week lol. If they would take this stupid engine stand back I could get it. I don't trust ebay I'd much rather go with felpro or re use than ebay.
So I guess this week I should pull my head and check for warpage if its straight then go with just valve seals, and head gasket. I think I have a 30 dollar off 100 dollar coupon if I can use that I should be great.
Thanks for all the replys guys
