Default Crack sound in transmission!

Hi there,

My 02 accord automatic has issue w transmission. I use Lucas transmission fluid instead AFT Z1, is it bad? Today I checked, I saw it was wet under the transmission pan, and when I change my gear R to D, D to P, or watever, it makes crack sound. The sound is pretty loud, and when I turn the wheel to side, properly right side, or pass thru bumper or deep, it also makes crack sound, I was thinkin that maybe CV joints but not sure. Any suggestions, Thank you

First of all, if you have a Honda, nothing goes into its transmission but Honda's ATF or MTF. I would not drive it again without first replacing all of the fluids. What I mean here is change the fluid once, drive it for 100 miles, then change it again, drive it for another 100 miles then change it again then you would have mostly Honda's stuff left. What made you put that Lucas stuff into your transmission? As far as the other noise, you need to check your suspension, that would include bushings, ball joints, sway bar bushings and all. Don't forget to check engine mounts, struts and springs. The solenoids make clicking sounds when changing gears. I can't tell without hearing it myself but dude, you need a manual or at least google things before commit to doing stuffs to your car. If you listen to your friends or some mechanic that is not Honda's or at least import certified, you be much better off reading from this site first. Take good care of your car friend.

You're welcome. I know it's hard time for the economy and the mechanic shops have to survive but so do we. Giving poor service for less money is not really any service. So we need to take matters into our own hands. Each car make is different in its engineering. The newer cars have seal suspension parts and designed to last but when it's old, it's old. So when the parts move out of range you get strange noises. If you would go over to Ericthecarguy, he has some good videos but one of the those are the suspension inspection which we can all do ourselves. I started working on my cars more about 4 years ago when money is tight and found how easy most of these things are. Some times the manual does not help too much but a video does wonders.
