Racing Harness in DA
What's up,
I picked up a set of Takata Racing harness for my 93 Integra but am running into an issue of mounting them. Unfortunately I didn't think about how I was going to mount them until after I purchased them lol.
So.... the DA has automatic seatbelts so there is nowhere to mount a harness bar to this generation, unless you have a JDM DA from what I understand because they have stationary belts. I have been searching intensively about my options for mounting this harness but the general consesus is that you really need a roll cage or harness bar.
I am out of budget at this point to install a roll cage, its not really a race car anyways, the harness was bought more for appearance. I do have a C pillar bar. Can you guys weigh in on what my safest option is out of:
1. Mount the harness to where rear seat belts mount on floor (i have no rear seats anyways)
2. Mount to rear seat belts but go around C pillar bar first-in order to get around mounting the harness below shoulder length as a precaution.
3. Get a custom harness bar welded in and and mount around that, ($ is the downside and I do not know how this welding may affect the structural integrity of the car).
Any insight will be really appreciated. Thanks!

Well, you can use a harness bar. Doesnt have anything to do with usdm or jdm if you are welding the bar in. Gonna have to remove or cut up the plastic of course. But I would stay away from those. I know someone who had a harness bar in a da, and got rear ended. Almost ended up paralyzed. I would only run harnesses with a cage. And do you have stock seats? I guess I would recommend bolting them to the floor, Idk how safe that would be in an accident, but I can promise you'd end up better than if you run a harness bar. You runnin em just for looks..?
Unless you are installing a roll cage then install the harnesses any way you want, whatever looks best, they are only for show, the stock belt is safer to use, even though it's not a "race car" cars do roll over on city streets and highways all the time, I sure the hell would not want to be held tightly upright in my seat if my car was rolling over and it had no roll cage, [proper roll cage]. 94
You could mount the eye bolts where the rear seatbelts go or use a harness bar which doesn't have to be welded they have some that just bolt into place. Since its for looks mount them to the rear seatbelt holes
Given they are only for appearence, just bolt them in where the rear seatbelts were bolted in at. I wouldn't rock them on the street with out a cage though. There is always that slim chance...
Since they are "for looks"
Install them however, then throw them around the back of the seat and use your normal seatbelt till you're a minute or two from the show/meet/whateveritisyoudo, then throw them on(and don't wreck), and set them all cool like in your seats.
This is probably the most ricer thing I've ever suggested, but it keeps you safe, and also allows you to have your "looks"

You should also check your state laws about, racing harnesses, [if you intend to use them] they may be illigal if not installed properly.
Do you have a seat belt law in your state? 94

I'm with everyone else, please don't be stupid and try to wear them on the street. Harness bars are unsafe as far as in concerned and shouldn't be sold. Unless of course your cage doesn't have one built in. The last thing you want is to be sucked into a seat and not be able to lay over if your car rolls over. Function > Fashion
For show, I guess your fine. You can bolt them to the rear seat bolts with eye bolts, and eye bolts for the side. You may have to punch some holes. just don't try to be 'cool' and use them on the street.

I ended up just mounting them to the rear seat bolts and it turned out looking pretty good. As far as safety, I understand its not the best option- but in the future if I do drive the car on a more daily basis (no ps, no ac, no heat lol), I'll have to fab up the stock seatbelts.
I am running a set of ebay racing seats, yes ebay lol. They are Yonaka Ronin seats which is a replica of Recaros that came in ITR. I chose a black leather option and they're actually pretty damn nice for $400. The only issue is that there is no place to install the stock DA auto seatbelts on these seats, another reason I chose a racing harness. Everyone pray I don't get into an accident with the harness in!

Here's the seats and harness for anyone interested. Excuse the interior is really just unfinished right now, you can see the carpet just mocked up for now and not very flush. The interior looks like christmas! eww
those look fake... takata sells plates that you can wield to your chassis and just use the eyebolts. or like mentioned you can use the rear seat mounting point. for the sides i mounted them to the bucket rail. but like mentioned oem seatbelts are the best
They look fake because they are fake. No takata harnesses ever came with "takata corporation" on them.. i recently Learned the ones I have are fake too. My real ones are on their way
Fake seat, fake harness, not mounted safely... non tested products. Do you have a death Wish? Since when is it worth risking your own life to look 'cool'? Not knockin you but you would be better off saving for legit stuff. And not running harnesses without a cage. Ain't worth ending up dead or paralyzed.

As far as the seat, I'm loving em. They feel great and look nice as well. They are obviously not the greatest seat but they're light as hell and do the job. As far as safety of the seats, the rails are professionally welded. Mom dukes got me them for Christmas so I can't complain! I would recommend these to anybody that likes the look of Recaros but does not want to spend 2-3x as much for a used pair. They are called Yonaka Ronin.
I'm thinking black Status harness would go much better. Whattayouthink?
I think you should use your OEM seatbelts. I ran a sparco harness with my ITR seats for awhile, until I realized how retarded/unsafe it is.
Edit: just saw you can't use the oem belts with those seats. Your next option would be a 4 point rollbar to mount the harnesses to. Autopower makes a nice unit, but unless you autox/ road race alot it's practically useless.

I found someone who wants to buy my harness, at least he knows before buying that they are replicas lol
