Default H22A(USDM) head with H23A(USDM) block

If I were to put an H22A (USDM) head on my H23A (USDM) block, would I need to to have any machine work done or is it a direct replacement of the H23A head? Any suggestions for this head swap? I asked a Honda Technician that I work with and who has worked on several major engine swaps and aftermarket part installations, but he does not know. Thanks, your help is appreciated

when i went to a local import yard they said that the h23 and h22 blocks were showing up in the system as the same. or they just mean compatable???

i have h22 pistons, rods and other for the build i am just needing a short block. can i use a h23 and then do the sleeve and bore as normal? it would be cheaper to find a h23 block huh

They are compatible as in the use the same head gasket, if you're using the H23 block you will use H23 crank rods and pistons usually. And you have to add the VTEC oil squirters, well I would.
