91 Si almost stahls and backfires need help
I have a stock 91 crx si. When coming to a stop the rpm's dive to almost nothing, the car shakes a little then the rpm's come back up to normal. Also, every now and then I will hear a little backfire from the rear of the car. Is there some kind of air flow sensor or anything to check? The car has 168,000 miles, no mods and the rotor cap plugs and wires are all fairly recent. The reason i mention air flow sensor is if im coasting down a hill in neutral, the idle is fine, it's not until I come to a stop that the rpm's dive.
It starts fine, and after a few hiccups after the stop the rpm's get normal again.
The backfires are random and only happen maybe once in a half hour commute.
Thanks in advance,
Gary

I would say check your timing if you recently changed a timing belt. other then that mine backfires or pops if i go over 5000 rpm and let off the gas but i dont have a muffler either though so that might be the reason to haha and my rpm does that to but it only drops roughly 500 rpm
Exact same issue. During the first 5-10 minutes of driving if I come to a quick stop the car will either stall or come very close to stalling. Probably vacuum related but I'm swapping in a lower mileage motor with a new intake gasket and vacuum lines so I won't know if it fixes it yet.
