Hello All, I was wondering whats the biggest tire size i can put on my stock 14" steelies. Its for my 98 Civic Sedan (DD)

Look on the b pillar inside your drivers door, should be a sticker stating tire size most likely 185/65R14, any variance to that will change speedometer reading google miata tire size calculator and use that to see how off your speedometer will be with diff size tires

 

well, i believe that sticker is long gone, but ill keep searching, thanks for the info

 

175/185/195 all will fit -- 205 would be pushing it.
side walls can be 60/65/70 and 75 would be pushing it.
So any combo of above.


I run 185/70/14 on occasion for the more sidewall, rides a bit better. As for speedo being off with those small differences, your looking at maybe 1-2 mph off. not anything you'd notice really.

 

195/65/14 is the largest safe size you can run on those wheels. The 185/70/14's are just above safe limits (at about 3.02% oversized).

 

thanks guys! now, where can i find the diagram where it shows you the numbern and the place on the tire. for example, 14 is the size of the rim, 65 is the width of the tire and 195 is the height, right?

 

nevermind, found it. stupid question. toyomatt, why will 185/70/14 be pushing it, if 195/65/14 has a bigger width?

 

Diameter.

You want to preserve the original tire diameter, even if you change wheel and/or tire width.

 

195/60R14 and 195/65R14 need at least a 5.5" wide wheel, and our records indicate stock wheel was 14x5.
