Default 88-91 Eco Mode

Sup peeps, I remember reading some other different forum years ago, about the 88-91 civic having a secret Economy Mode programed in the ECU. And I remember a guy was going to wire up an LED to the ECU, as an indicator to when Eco mode was on.

I know the OGs must know what I'm talking about. From my personal experience, I do feel when I first turn on the car, it feel slower and less "peppy" but once I go WOT it jumps to a different mode and feels a bit peppy. But when I turn it off and and let it sit, it resets and goes back to "Eco mode". Idk if it's just me, I might be wrong.

Someone chime in, is it a real feature?

I've run stock ECU's from 3 different years (88, 89 and 91) on my CRX si race car and I owned a 1988 Si daily driver. I've never experienced this.

I can't find the old thread to back this up, I just remember being a big discussion on this, about the 4th gen civic. I was always interested in more info and that LED mod would be pretty neat.

You never experienced it, but have you heard of this?

Are you confusing "eco mode" with the cold rev limiter?

Maybe! What's this cold rev limiter? Do you know how it works?

Exactly. It can stay in that "mode" for 100 miles until the pedal goes all the way down it, it jumps out that mode.

BTW when i stay in "Eco mode", I get really good MPG, the tank last WAYYYY longer.

I personally don't think there is a eco mode why where are talking about ecus that are dinasours compared to the new obd2 ecus but old ecus did have a closed loop when you driving at a steady pace. The o2 sensor goes on and saves you more gas
