head gasket maybe...plz help my dc2 is sick
ok for starters im new to HT so take it easy if im in wrong forum
ok issue i bought a 01 gsr shell back in august and bought a jdm b18c from hmotors did t belt oil water pump plugs wires pretty much the whole extensive tune up...
motor dropped in all went well waited a week or so of running seafoamed motor drained and flushed cooling system changed oil...
now on dizzy side were the HG is i have a coolant leak on that corner...whats strange is when i flushed cooling system(2 times since swap) i filled with just distelled water no antifreeze yet the leak is green...theres no water in oil and no oil in water...comp ratio is 195 across the board
ill attach sum pix...please let me know if i should tear head off and put new HG or ride it out or try HG repair junk

thanx again HT

Do a leak down test, should tel you if your head gasket is leaking. But don't use any additive repairing sealents, they can clog other vital ports in the block and ruin the water pump
thats what i figured..thanx for fast reply is there anything other than a comp test i can do on my own...or is leak down about it? i tried cooling systemm pressure test but auto zones is broke lol FML
yes no oil to my knowladge its a fresh change so its hard to tell when i wipe block with white rag all i see is green and my levels arent dropping any if there are its very slow
So you're seeing green on the corner of where your head and block meets? Are you overheating? At least change out the water for some antifreeze.

no no over heating it has a low temp mishimoto thermo though fans work...only reason i didnt add antifreeze is cause im still breaking it in and plan on flushing it again it doesnt get hot at all
Change out that hose clamp/hose, it may cause a slow leak like that and end up on the block. I never really trust those tension clamps( don't know if that's what it really is called , oh well sue me, for all the correctors of improper terms
) I'd only use the screw type clamps.

If the clamp was bad it would be leaking right at the end of the hose. At that angle the antifreeze is more likely to drip then run along the waterneck onto the block.
Need to get ahold of a good coolant system pressure tester and pressurize the system then you will be able to tell more about where the leak is coming from. Also check if the leak gets worse when the engine is warm this might aid in finding where it is coming from.
it does get worse when warm...and the only one i can find is from auto zone and they said its broke...im not really up to buying a new one there expensive lol...but i will if need be!!...i dont see any run marks or lines and i clean it everytime

98% of coolant problems are seals and hoses. the thermostat gasket can leak when old. so do hoses.
very very uncommon to see coolant leak via a HG on a b18c
steve also compression tests his engines and if it's bleeding coolant there's a very good chance it would be bleeding compression

ya i know its wierd..idk my comp test was all 190 and number 1 was like 188...its still fresh clear oil so if it is mixing its hard to tell but to my knowledge all i see is antifreeze
AFTER CLEANING AGAIN THROUGHLY AND staring im sure its oil not coolant..i thought it was green cause it has that light oil color cause its new...so i guess ill be putting new HG on so can anyone refer a good brand ..i.e. felpro comtec and a good writeup
hold the f'k on. where is the oil coming from?
the gaskets on a gsr are nothing more than steel shims. they don't blow. if something is leaking you either have a warped surface of....i've seen some that creep oil very slowly but it's rare. the vtec solenoid is a much more common cause of leaking on that part of the engine

it's possible to seep out the HG but rare, even more rare with solid even compression. the #1 cause of oil leaks is the vtec solenoid. clean the engine really well, start it and stare at it. make sure it's not running down from somewhere else
i have numerous times cleaned and watched..it looks like it trickles out hg if i new how to post a video id record it and show you...all the seals and gaskets are new except the hgcam seals vtec dizzy front and rear seals tbelt water pump tensioner i did a pretty substantial tune up but thought the hg would be ok since it was from hmotors
Replacing the head gasket at this stage will be a huge mistake. Also, stay away from that HG Repair junk. Our motors are precious!
It is so common to have oil in that spot. I even stopped paying attention to it.
It stopped leaking after I used some silicone gasket in the corners where the valve cover goes over camshaft bumps. Very common leakage.
You need to realize that if you have a leak anywhere around the head, it will always end up in that spot. Look behind the intake manifold if you are absolutely sure there are no leaks in front of the motor.
I can't stress it enough - do not touch that head gasket! Thing is solid metal!
