Fuel Gauge
My fuel gauge is full all the time. The cluster had been replaced with one that had less miles before I bought the car. The low fuel light also never comes on even when I track the mileage and know the car has less than a gallon of fuel left. I've been looking everywhere and cant really find anything that helps me. I've heard the clusters go bad in these years and i've also heard that the fuel sending units are generally the fix. I really just want a working fuel gauge. What are some tests I can do? I have a voltmeter.
I hooked up a multimeter and tested the resistance in the sending unit and it wasnt picking up anything. Normally the resistance should be about 4-5 ohms on a full tank right? So if its reading nothing then it would make sense as to why the gauge sits past full. Thoughts?
