How to tell difference between 4.266 and 4.40 countershaft
Is there any physical way to tell the difference between a ls and a b16 countershaft? I know they are not the same (used a ls counter with a b16 ring gear with probs before). I am about to purchase a used one and want a way to verify if it is correct.
Yes there is a way, the diameters are different. I sent a PM to either James@GearSpeed or Synchrotech a few months ago.
The was another away to tell them apart as well, but I forgot, let me do some digging.

i belive the ls counter has 2 marks on the gear and the gsr has 3. i would need to count teeth at home to know the tooth count.
dave at synchrotech knows it off the top of his head. let hope he chimes in.

Look at the countershaft tooth profile and you will see ID marks. The B16 hydro will have 3 lines and the LS will have 2 lines. Both will have 15 teeth. The ring gear on the LS will have 64 teeth and the B16 will have 66 teeth. I will post a pic for reference.
