Default Hid High & Low beam question?

So i have a 1998 Acura integra gs.

when i bought it, it didn't come with low beam headlights, and i'm gonna replace them with hid's.

but i'm wondering if your driving with low beams and you turn on your high beams do they both stay on or does your low beam turn off and your high beam continues to run.

so my question is, is if they both stay on... both high & low beam, could you get hid kits for both bulb sizes and have hid's for your low beam and flick on your high beams and have hid high beams? so your basically running both hid low beam and hid high beam at the same time?

might be a dumb question, but just can't really find a straight awnser.

but please & thank you.

They both stay on, and yeah you can run Hi/low hids.

But I suggest doing a projector retrofit for the high beams because they dont have a projector lense so your just going to scatter light everywhere and blind everybody

High beams were meant to shine light in a lot of places and generally are blinding anyway. That statement does apply to lowbeams however.

Low beams with the OEM projectors and an HID PnP kit look fine IMO. They have the step cutoff because they are projectors.

Like NemesisCBR said, the highbeams are meant to cause glare. I do not know what an HID PnP kit would look like in those.

Make sure that you polish your lenses if they are hazed. That is the primary cause of glare, as the haze absorbs and scatters the beam.

^^^X2, I also suggest DDMTuning if you haven't purchased a kit yet. I have the low beams in my Integra, and low/fogs in my Denali.

I have HID's in my hi-beams (3000k) and lo-beams(6000k). I did a retrofit on the high's so I can run them constantly and not blind people. The output is good.

With that outer lens on the high beam, you are causing glare. It is designed to do so. It may be reduced because ot the inner lens on the retrofit, but it is still causing glare. You'd need a smooth outer lens like the low beam to prevent that.

It causes about as much as the low beam if not less. I'll eventually get it sanded down but it is alot better than stock

A retrofit is when you cut your headlight housings and install an HID projector from another vehicle. PnP (plug 'n play) is when you install rebased HID bulbs into your nonHID housings. The 94-01 Integra low beam, halogen projectors are not bad for PnP. Most refector headlights are terrible for PnP as they cause glare.
