215/40/17's are rated for up to 8.5" wide wheels, so the tires are undersized for the wheels. Also, depending on what offset you go with, you're going to have quite a lot of work to do to both the sheet metal and run quite a lot of negative camber to fit them. Fitting 16x8 +35's with 225/50/16's required almost 2 degrees of negative camber and rolled/cut rear quarter panels. Then, in the front, it required almost 3 degrees of negative camber, removed fender liners, and rolled/slightly pulled fenders.

I hate to say it bud... but...

From the Forum Rules and FAQ:
10. Do not ask about "stretching" tires onto wheels that are too wide.
All such topics will be locked. Tire manufacturers determine the wheel widths onto which each model and size tire can be mounted safely, and you can find the range of these wheel widths in the specs on their websites as well as those of retailers like the Tire Rack. Mounting tires onto wheels outside this range of approved wheel widths is unsafe because it can, and often does, result in the buildup of excessive stress and heat in the tire sidewalls, which can lead to the tire "popping the bead" and/or tire failure. Make sure your tires are mounted on wheels whose widths are within the approved range.
This type of question is better suited for the Appearance forums, if anywhere.

PS. You may get some clearance issues to the rear trailing arm, depending on how much camber you have.
