Default GSR Swap Major Oil Leak Around Head. Help!

picked up a complete gsr swap. wento to go startup the car and oil squirted all around the transmission side and backside of the motor. its not the distributor seal or vtec solenoid gasket for sure. its not a slow leak its spitting oil out. i'd say just about a quart of oil came out within 10-15 seconds after startup. had to shut it off. what the F could be wrong with it?

You could not see where the oil was coming from, maybe have someone crank it while you look or do a bypass jump so you can crank and look at the same time. 94

Seriously 1 quart in 10 sec. and you can't tell where its coming from? Is it coming from between the head and block?

its leaking between the head and block but its coming out from all around the tranny side and back of the motor. could it have a wrong headgasket installed or even installed on backwards? incorrectly torqued head bolts? i mean this biatch is gushing out oil.

i highly doubt it would run if it were leaking out the head gasket that badly.
clean the area and disconnect the distributor. have someone crank it and watch

Ditto the above^^^

If it is comming from between the block and head, it may be the HG, [wrong one, not installed properly, but my guess would be, [if it's pumping out as fast as you say] it is a bigger problem then just a HG or how you cranked the head down, [although still possible] a warped head, deck or both.

Clean it and see exactly where it is coming from, if your sure it is from between the block and head, pull the head.94

Yea it would, car started right up. Unless the previous owner never changed the headgasket then that eliminates it.

Yup. Done the same thing before. Fired right up and ran but a sheet of oil was flowing out from between the head and block like a water fall.

Was the head recently R&R'd? Could be a HG problem or the machine shop may have left a plug out on the head.

the headgasket was on backwards. so oil gushing out = headgasket on backwards
