Well I never thought the day would come that I would actually sell my R6. She was a 2009 that I bought brand new as the pearl white/ red combo. Here she is in all her glory on the day that she left my house.

On a bright side, a close friend on mine purchased her, so I get to see it every time we ride still. Although it is his first sport bike...
And here is my new bike on the day I got her home. It's a 2007 Triumph Speed Triple 1050.

Overall I'm happy, although you can't really compare the two bikes. The r6 felt so much faster, but I think it is just how the speed triple puts the power out throughout the range and not just screaming the whole time. I have learned to love the comfortable riding position also, which is all the reason I changed the style. The only two things I can complain about is the feel of the front end, and the comments asking if it's a buell (smacks head).
But, I'm just pretty excited about the new toy and thought I would share. I have alot of plans for this bike starting real soon!

Tough love for the Triumph I guess. This seems to be the general consensus with my friends as well, until the end of the day riding. Well, the r6 was my 4th sportbike...it was time to get something more street friendly..
You will love the Triple.
When at first I went from a gixxer to a 900 Monster I was disappointed with how slow it was compared to the S/S counterpart. The comfort, handling and quality soon outweighed what the gixxer had to offer. I think you will find yourself feeling the same.

Nice. In a different time, you'll have both. You can ride the Triple all day long.
I have no problems riding my 919 for 12 hours in the mountains. I can't even make it out to the mountains on my R6 before wanting to come home.

does the speed triple really feel THAT slow compared to the r6? closest thing ive ridden to either is an 05 gsxr 600, and it was fast, but it didnt FEEL fast. i have a hard time believing the 1050 can feel much slower.

No, the 1050 is a beast, it's just brutal. I absolutely love this bike now and I'm real happy with it. It has so much down low, way more than the r6 but the r6 just screams up top. I imagine if you were to drag race them (just to compare power) the speed triple would be ahead, or pretty close until you hit triple digits. I usually was in front in the twistys on the r6 and the speed triple is no different...just much more comfortable. I no longer have to be revving the bike super high all the time to feel like I'm moving because the 1050 pulls pretty good throughout the powerband. The r6 I could only clutch up wheelies In 2nd, on the triumph I can bounce it up in 3rd with no clutch. This speed triple is bone stock right now, my r6 had a PCIV with a custom tune, 1 down up front, gytr slip on and catless header. From what I read online, with a good exhaust, tune, airbox mods and some other little things people are getting right around 125ish rwhp on the triumph with much more torque as well. My r6 put down 108rwhp with the above mods.
well im sold. id been shopping monsters for a while, wishing for a deal on an s4r, but probably settling on an s2r, or a 1000. then i found these and i gotta say im impressed. does anyone have first hand experience with both a speed triple and a nice monster?

Well I painted some of it this week, still not done yet. Here is what I have anyway.
After primer, sealer, here it is with basecoat.

Still have to sand it, stripe it then reclear

Ehh that's fine, I'm the one riding it. I don't really care who does/doesn't like it. Thought it would be different to see something other than all the "$50 paint jobs" in the Hack section, oops I mean Body and Paint section.
Good choice in bikes, I think you will like it much better for street riding, but every rider is different.
I kinda dig the paint, but I will have to see it finished and on the bike before I can decide.

I would of left it white, and gone riding. Looks like it was layed down now.
Like you said your the one riding it. Won't help the resale value much.

If I could figure out how to delete this thread I would, there is a reason I haven't posted back in a month. Let it die, after the 10th negative comment I could give two ***** what anyone says
