DIsk brake swap on 90 Civic EX sedan
Needing some help on Rear Disk brake swap. I have been searching and keep getting contradicting info.
Ill be using everything from the DA integra.
First, What e-brake cables do I need, I have been told Coupe and Sedan. I read that someone said the Coupe one's are short and will not bolt back into the stock locations. Have also read the Sedan ones are to long, I want this as clean as possible. So what cable is the best to use.
Second, I have been told because My Sedan is an EX I will not need to change the Prop. valve or the master cylinder. Is this correct?
Third, What Brake lines are needed?
Trust me I have searched And have found one person says this another says that. I just want to do this in one shot no problems. Any help would be great.

I have da rear disc on my 90 ex. I used da coupe ebrake cables and da rear brake hoses. The factory prop valve and master cylinder work fine. Hlpe this helps. Its been this way for almost two years and never had a issue
I'm not sure on which ebrake cables you need. I've read that a civic 4 door need integra 4 door cables, but don't quote me on that.
If you look on the side of your brake master cylinder, you'll either see 13/16 or 15/16. Since you have an EX, it should be 15/16 which is more than adequate. Your stock booster is fine to use as well.
The actual brake lines shouldn't be a problem, all the ones I've used have bolted right up and been the correct length. I'm running DA integra brakes all around on my 89 civic. When I ordered braided brake lines, I bough the set made for the DA, everything bolted right up.
If you're doing a rear disc swap, look around for a 4040 brake proportioning valve. Cars runs different proportioning valves depending on if it'd rear drum or rear disc. Since you'll be bleeding the brakes anyways, you might as well throw in the correct valve. It's located on the side of the front passenger strut tower, in the engine bay.

Okay so the coupe Cable should work fine and bolt back into factory locations? Im told the EX has a 40/40 valve anyone to tell what mine is.
Ugh, I'm running on no sleep. That's why I'm not catching any of this.
If you have a 90-91 4dr EX then you should already have disc in the rear. So why are you wanting to swap to rear integra disc? Bigger?

My EX sedan still has its orignal OEM brake shoes and hardware on the back and its pretty toast
A 4040 brake proportioning valve is usually associated with rear disc brake setups. My 89 Si with rear drums had a 2530 valve.
So to answer your questions:
Not sure what cables won't work, search.
Look on the side of your master cylinder for 13/16 or 15/16. Same goes for your proportioning valve. It's stamped into the side.
DA brake lines will bolt up to civic hard lines.

ugh there's some miss info in here.
you HAVE to run the integra sedan disc brake cables.
to keep brake biasing proper you will need the 40/40 prop valve.
you should have a 15/16ths master cylinder and 10.2" front brakes stock, those wont need to be changed.
However, the ex sedan comes with a 35/40 prop valve, so again to get the proper braking you'll need the integra 40/40 prop valve. however you can use the 35/40, the brakes will just seem front biased a bit.

stop it with the 35/40 dumshit.
thats misinformation.
its 3540 and 4040.
OP, try the 3540. if it doesnt work, get a 4040 and let us know how it works out.
90-91 EX's are not common, so thats why theres not much info on swapping to rear discs. (and no, they didnt come with rear discs to whoever said so) so let us know what you find out so you can contribute to the real information.

Me and my brither just did his disc setup on his EX is a 91, and no disc brake on thise 1991 honda civic CRX Si was the only one that came with rear disc brakes... So now with the materias you are going to need:
Rear disc brake convertion from DA 4 door will be better because you need the cables from a DA sedan.
Rear brake hoses from a DA
4040 proportioning valve from the DA
Take old put new, take it to get align and your done...

To clear this up too, you can use any rear trailing arm from civic/CRX/integra 1988-2000 on any Civic 1988-2000. They are all the same design. You just use the LCAs/compensator arms (toe adjusters)/and stabilizer arm (one between the compinsator arms and the big bushing on the trailing arm) for the year/vehicle you are swaping them to.
