Whining noise after timing belt change
I've done a lot of research and people say the timing belt is too tight but in the video down below, you can see that the belt doesn't look that tight. this is my 3rd time tensioning my belt, 1st time too lose, 2nd time too tight, 3rd just right?

i followed the procedure in the manual and i also did it this way http://www.team-integra.net/forum/bl...nt-g3-teg.html.
Everything is set to tdc. i triple checked. Drove around and it drives perfectly fine and idles good. I do not think its the alternator belt because it isn't super tight and not super loose and i don't hear the noise coming from it. However when i took the crank pulley off, i noticed on the lower timing cover that the pulley rubs on it because i can see the lines in the pulley but it's not very deep. Not really sure if that's whats cause it but i don't smell burning rubber.
New water pump, new tensioner, almost new belt. Oh btw its a crx with a 90 b18a1 block with a b1 head.
Please help!

So your using a old belt? Wheres the new one
Why dont you just check the deflection of the belt
The deflection should be between 1/2in and 1 in.
It seems like your worried about the belt being to tight and being to loose

When i first chaned everything and the belt flapped around a bit, i never heard this sound but the day i tightened the belt, up came the whining noise
It might be too tight I would give it a week and see if it's still making the noise, the belt might stretch
If your not sure which belt just take off the accessory belts for a min then start it and see
Not sure but I think William and sons sells delco belts

did you put the crank retainer ring{s} on backwards? there is a smooth rounded side and a sharp side. if you have the sharp side in the belt will rub, frey and.....well...probably not come apart but i sure wouldn't drive on it.
judging by the sound of your video i would put an educated guess on it
{s} because jdm crank pullies use 2 and usdm pullies use 1

if you have the retainers faced right, and you did the install process correctly including the tension process the only thing left is the belt
i won't use anything but oem or gates belts on a b series. i once tried to install an ebay no name belt for a friend and the pos never did install quite like the before mentioned.

And i dont think it's the belt because my friend has the same belt in the same engine and his doesn't have that sound.
Well i think i figured out the metal to metal rubbing sound. The manual says the the concave side for the inside washer is supposed to face inward.
Well, I just spent the last few days doing the same thing to a B16A2. I installed a toda belt with an ATI street damper and also got a whining sound at low rpm. I only put about 5 miles on it and it seem to lesson the more I drove it. Gonna give it a few days and see if it goes away.
As, far as your washer facing issue goes. I referenced two manuals. the OE honda and "how to rebuild honda b-series engines" workbench series and it clearly states that the outer washer needs to be installed with the concave side facing out.
Also, anyone following this thread. Any one ever do this and then have the engine not want to idle at low rpm. I am thinking it is super damper related and just curious on any input.

And for your idle problem, has it idled normally before you worked on it or was the problem the same? Sounds to me like your problem would be the FITV or IACV.
