Default 96 Civic LX Cruise Control Issues

Last weekend my battery was dead and when I recharged it, the car still wouldn't start. Found the dreaded broken rubber plug in the floor board and it was from the brake pedal. Glued a penny in there and all was well again. I'm guessing that normally pressed switch controls the brake lights and when it was allowed to remain unpressed the brake lights stayed on and ran the battery down. Anyway, since that issue my cruise control doesn't work anymore. The green light on the dash switch works, and the 7.5A interior fuse is good but when I try to engage it from the steering wheel controls nothing happens. I'm guessing it has something to do with pedal switches but cannot figure out why. Looking for help or suggestions.

Replace the penny with, or glue on top of it, something non-conductive and see what happens.

Worth a shot although the penny works fine on my clutch. I'm wondering if it's not pushing that switch in far enough or too far.

My cruise control did the same thing and it was the bottom clutch stop pad that hits the cruise control engaged button was gone so its that, the switch it hits is bad, the switch on the steering wheel is bad, a bad electrical contection, or maybe a vacuum leak to the cc diaphrag. I would start with the clutch pad and vacuum. then grab a voltmeter and check electrical.

I took another look at the brake pedal today and could see that the switch wasn't pushed in all the way so I added another penny and cruise is working again! Gotta love a 2 cent fix!
