Default brakes

we all know when you work an engine you need brakes to stop the extra *** you have found......that said what is a good brand to look for some front rotors for a 96 accors (lx). i found a set of direct replacement brimbo rotors but i cannot find the website i seen them on and it was a nice deal for around 250 but if any of yall out there know where to look for say a complete 4 piston rotor and caliper set please let me know my passenger side caliper is leaking badly around the piston and has alot of play in its housing (even after a rebuild) so its time for something better! thanks for the info

Just get some OE spec replacement rotors and rebuilt calipers from your auto parts store. OE brakes are really well built and could handle your exhaust and intake you added.

I guarantee you are not going to need more than the Legend or NSX two piston calipers on OE sized rotors. If you do a search in this section there are more than a few with all of the direct bolt-on replacements.

Keep in mind you will probably have to replace your old master cylinder as well - I'd recommend staying with a brand new OEM unit versus a questionable rebuilt one.

thanks muffin man for answering the question. does it matter what year of legend i get the calipers off of? and the reason why im asking about the rotors is because the stock set on the front is getting super hot now with a stock engine so im trying to locate some cross drilled and slotted rotors thanks again mike

It does matter IIRC, but I had NA1 NSX calipers on my Accord so I'm not sure which you need. There is debate as which is the best, the Legend you actually flip their positions around whereas the NSX bolts up in stock position.

You really shouldn't need anything more than Brembo "blank" OE rotors. I would just get them from TireRack. The crossdrilled/slotted thing is kinda silly IMO and unnecessary for street cars. If you do have legitimate heating issues, installing a brake cooling duct would be much more beneficial.

My setup, which would stop on a dime literally:

- NA1 NSX calipers
- '95 Accord Wagon rotors (1" larger in diameter IIRC)
- '95 Accord V6 caliper brackets
- '94-97 Earl's SS brakelines
- '96 new OEM BMC
- ATE SuperBlue fluid

Keep in mind tires are important in braking as well. I had ABS on mine, but the new owner had the ABS go out on him sometime after I sold it. Considering the ABS modulators are kinda known for being bad, I wouldn't attribute it to the upgraded brakes as much as I would age/mileage.

I never heard of a "4 piston rotor".
