Default 88 hatch cluster options

i picked up an unmolested untouched 88 dx, almost done gathering all my parts to swap in my jdm itr motor. i want to get a cluster that shows me rpms though. from what i read only the 88-89 will work. but i was wondering if i get a cluster from a 90-91 and i change the bezel that bolts to the dash, would that work??

Yes, you can get the newer style cluster, bezel and mounting bracket to fit the newer parts, but, it will require you to rewire the newer cluster to operate properly

Yeah but why not just buy one that will bolt right in no work needed. 88-89.

Cheapest one on Ebay.

A lot of people including myself prefer the larger and cleaner look of the 90-91 style. I did it myself in an 89
