Default Ticking from Bad Gas

Hello! I used to be active on this forum for my '97 integra gsr, but now I have issues with a '02 Odyssey. Basically I put really bad gas in it from another car and it would not start. The gas has been sitting for like a year or two, but I did not know this at the time. I drained the gas and now it runs but started ticking pretty loud, doesn't start up as fast and some vapor coming from the exhaust. I was able to diagnose that the ticking is coming from the injectors.
I have tried fuel injector cleaner, the Chevron brand, but it didn't help. I might try the bg44k, but should I have the injectors cleaned professionally? What else should I do in the case?

It is unlikely that the really nasty stuff made it as far as the injectors. That's the good news.

But you may need to replace the fuel filter and flush everything else with some clean fresh gas - I'd start by doing all that. Your old bad gas likely had some nasty solids in it (and there may still be loads of that crud at the bottom of your fuel tank). You need to get rid of all that first.

If you are lucky flushing it all out with clean fresh gasoline may fix things. Local fire stations will often take (bad) old gasoline (where they use it to start fires for their training drills).

Don't try to clean it out by burning (using up) the old gas! Also, albeit a little bit late add some Stabil (it has chemicals that dissolve those solids).

There may also be water in there - that will collect in the bottom of your tank, cause rough idling/running (or stalling) and it could be the cause of the extra vapor that you are seeing.

This could turn out quite expensive before you are done so good luck.

You defiantly want to drain the tank of the old fuel. Replace the fuel filter and put fresh premium fuel in with at least a can of seafoam to clean out the injectors. If they are ticking and they didn't before then there is s possibility they're clogged.

Another step that can be taken is professionally cleaned injectors. I like the systems that run the vehicle off the actual cleaner and then your motor oil is changed right after that's done. This really cleans the injectors well. Had to perform this on my 96 maxima years ago and really cleared up drivability issues with the car .
