Coolant temp rises at idle.....94 4cyl...among other issues
I noticed lately, my coolant temp rises at idle....after coming to a stop.
Immediately after throttle up, the temp quickly drops. If it was an american car, I'd suspect a fan clutch.
Another thing I noticed about this car, is the heater sucks....luke warm at best.
The coolant fan comes on after key is turned off.....normal ??
Any idears ??

Is the car topped off with coolant? The temp dropping as you go, luke warm heater and fan issue sounds like you're low on coolant. The same things happen to my wagon when I had a slow leak and the level got low.
On the t-stat housing (lower hose connects to engine) there is a green two wire connector. Remove the connector and use a paperclip or something to connect the two WIRES together, turn the key to on/pos II.....do BOTH fans come on?
Mine does the same thing when I sit at idle for more than 5 mins after it has been running hot. When jump the radiator fan switch connector, it kicks the radiator fan on meaning the whole circuit is working, so only thing I needed to test now is the radiator fan switch itself. Still need to test that as for me.
