Default Trans/ Clutch acting up. Please help

So this just happened not 30 minutes ago. I'm driving home and my car starts grinding in every gear, then 5 mins later it's not letting me go into some gears. It's really weird that this came out of nowhere. It's almost like the clutch isn't fully engaging and the reason I say this is because if it is in gear and I have the clutch fully compressed, the car does that skiping like I'm letting off the clutch without giving it enough fuel. Anyone with any insight would be greatly appreciated.
A little more info: It goes in and out of gear no problem when the car is off so at stop lights I was turning the car off, putting it into 1st, turning it on then praying to god it would go into another gear (usually 4th)

What year Chevy are you dealing with?

I'll take a random guess since you provided NO info on the Ford you are driving to the movies with the family in tow in the trailer.

B series clutch crapped a clutch spring.
