weird noise when I turn the wheel
I noticed this yesterday while in traffic. If I turn the wheel I hear a thump noise. This is once every time I start to trun the wheel. It isn't very loud. I don't think I would have heard it if I had the radio on quietly. It sounds like when you hit a bass drum. It does it every time. It almost seems delayed though like half a sec from when I move the wheel. Could this be something with the 4WS? it's a 92BTW. Anyone got any Ideas what it is??? Thanks!
dont know if this will help @all. but my Mom's fulltime AWD drive durango makes the same noise. only when turning the wheel while goin slow, like round parking lots. my guess is the 4WS.
sounds like your axels might be bad, (cv joints to be specific) try to see if you can pinpoint which side its coming from
Thanks a lot! I feel a bit stupider for not thinking of that on my own
bearings in the axle will make a clicking higher pitched sound. not a bass sound.
and the sound usually does not happen when at a stand still.
it could be your tie rods. if you haven't replaced them yet.
