Default Wiring Issues

OK doing my first swap. The car was a dpfi 88 hatch. It has a mine me z6 with turbo. I was having trouble with no power but turned out to be the thermo ground. Fixed it but when I put power to it I seen smoke and smelled wire burning. I use obd1 inj so no res box but I wired the inj to the yellow wires off my factory harness Andi know that was wrong now. But the problem now is I have no power and no dash light. The check engine light and brake light dowdy come on like before. Did I fry my ecu?

Does the ecu light stay on at all times?
Can you hear the fuel pump priming at all?
If not, try using a different ECU.

Basically you fried a wire and are now looking for a needle in a hay stack. You could continuity test the Hot wires and see if anything has continuity to ground. Its a start
