Lost Motion Assembly symptoms and support
OK so I got some questions for you guys about Lost Motion Assembly (LMA), my questions are:
1. what are the symptoms?
2. can it cause poor gas mileage?
3. does it get louder according to throttle response (like if you were to ride in 5th gear at 2500 rpm and open the throttle all the way it will get louder)?
4. why and how do they go out on you?
5. will it mess up my motor?
6. can it cause the motor to lose HP?
I did some research and really found nothing about it besides the fact that they are loud when they start to go out or is actually out.

my motor is making a loud ticking noise at idle. gets a loud growling noise according to my throttle response only. i can stay at the same rpm and open the throttle up and then it gets louder. I felt like theres a lot of power loss. And last, the growling/ticking noise goes away when VTEC engages.
i notice ur from schofield. i might know you. re adjust ur valves, or have someone who has prior knowledge of doing then, and if it still ticks loud. it may be ur LMAs, do a compression test. either tat pull out ur LMAs and push them in, from what i heard and seen if it clicks/ticks its bad. but i may be wrong.

could be overdue for a valve adjustment and you can turn the motor over by hand and check the lma's with a pushrod of some sort. something with a soft tip or your finger, push down and see if any feel different.
How many miles on the motor?
Well adjust ur valves first but if it goes away at vtec like u said then it probably is ur LMA's. GSR motor now uses a honeycomb spring type design came out a few years back , it works good, especially with aftermarket cams. Itr still uses the old style design and cost more, there both good but i think the GSR LMA's are better ...its ur choice

check to see if your lma sticks, just push down on it with your finger, from pushing down a few first you will get a nominal feel for it, if they get stuck you will get a tick noise, in the past ive removed my lma and clean the springs inside very well with simple green, and they stop ticking/ getting stuck, gsr lma are better they have a larger land diameter, giving you more room to run higher lift cams gl.
