Icon2 I Don't Think It's CLUTCH CHATTER!

So after SWAPPING my JDM GSR Motor into my 95 Integra, there seems to be something wrong with the CLUTCH or TRANSMISSION. There is a constant clicking noise when the motor is in idle. When I step on the clutch, the clicking or chattering stops. Also when ACCELERATING, there is a HIGH PITCH noise like I'm running a SUPERCHARGER.... Now it seems to be even harder to put the car into GEAR.... What could possibly be the problem?

Thank You All in Advance!

did you put oil back in the transmission?

if you did the next guess is the clutch has an install problem. loose flywheel bolts will have the car rattling like hell, unable to go in gear but stop when you push in the clutch

I had one of my BUDDIES do the swap. I assumed he would know to do all the necessary steps since he is a CERTIFIED MECHANIC. Asked him what could be the problem and he says he DOESN'T KNOW! He will have to take it all apart to look at. Any other suggestions.... Thanks for Helping!

certified by whom? and for what?

also it doesn't mean **** if he wizzes through it. my top suspicion is the flywheel bolts were not torqued to spec and or the wrench used is not accurate. always error on the high side with these. 90-95lbs is good.

Certified by SCHOOL... Haha, but I know that doesn't really mean JACK! I would just assumed he know what he was doing. He did go through the SWAP fairly FAST since I needed the car for WORK. I have a feeling it was installation error but could very well be some BOLTS!

One last QUESTION...... If its grinding/chattering while in GEARS, is it safe to DRIVE?
ALSO, Do you know what could be causing the HIGH PITCH noise when ACCELERATING?

do not drive period

the whine could be the input shaft since the flywheel is bouncing around

again, do not drive, walk, take the bus, pull the trans and or start troubleshooting.

you will f'k up your crank snout and flywheel at a minimum if it's what i suspect

start looking for places to buy arp flywheel bolts, good chance you will be soon. of course wait till its out before you buy but i would look for prices now.

Awsome...... Since I have done some DRIVING with it GRINDING/CHATTERING, do you think the CLUTCH will be GARBAGE! Its an EXEDY STAGE 1 RACING CLUTCH that's not even 1 YEAR OLD...?

might not be

you'll have to tear it apart to see what has been damaged. i worked on a car this happened to and the clutch lived

huh?

you did or didn't buy a new one?

if the clutch is a year old you could have reused that TB since it was already on your transmission. should have been a non issue.

sucks man, it's his fault though. if he did the work.

let me guess it ran fine for a few minutes before this all started?

like you picked up the car, drove it, all was well then 10 minutes later this all started?

When I first picked up the car, the WHINING noise was happening. I didn't think much but noticed the car was BOGGING when Accelerating in every gear. Changed my sparks today but didn't get rid of the bogging. Now I'm starting to hear the clutch chatter...... I knew it was not good! This might have been a BAD IDEA to swap the motor out. Everything ran FINE in my DA..

if the noise goes away when clutch is depressed, i'd suspect input shaft bearing.
as mentioned though, make sure to check the fluid level. cuz low fluid will cause those symptoms as well

the bogging may be a separate issue. try checking the codes. and check ignition timing

transmission has to come off at any rate. if you reused your old trans i don't see how the input shaft bearing would fail just magically.

not filling with oil can cause that whine. driving like that can cause chatter as you blow up your transmission. that absolutely could happen

pull the trans, go from there. don't drive it anymore

So....... Before I swapped the motor out, I was using my EXEDY STAGE 1 CLUTCH in my CABLE Transmission in my 90 Integra. Since I have swapped the motor, I installed the EXEDY into a HYDRO GSR Tranny. the clutch was used on the same motor, but just different transmissions. Hope this helps!

holy ****

there's the problem

that is not compatible

pull the trans, i have no idea what happened, you can not use a cable clutch on a hydro trans

your "mechanic" friend didn't know this?

i honestly do not know what would happen. maybe someone else does

that's not possible. the clutch disc from a 90 rides on a smaller input shaft than a 92+. it would not physically fit.

had you ever run that gsr tranny before this?

edit: RB beat me to it.
however, you can use a cable clutch on a hydro. so long as it's 92+

oh i've seen people "make it fit" in other apps

this one dude i was in college had a d series clutch and somehow made it fit on a b series, it completely wrecked the hub of the clutch and would not shift. he basically had this forced mess that required a 3ft pry bar and 2 people to remove the transmission.

i had flash backs when the op said what he just did

i mean i don't really know what would happen in the op's case but i'm better something similar. i just hope he didn't damage the input shaft bearing

OP you MUST CONVERT YOUR CAR TO A HYDRO CLUTCH SETUP OR USE YOUR OLD TRANS WITH A CABLE CLUTCH

When I ordered it on EBAY, I swear they said it was for ALL B Series Motors.... Is this not true?

oh no, very specific for 94+

the flywheels are interchangeable if i remember right {still not 100% and would verify first} the clutches are absolutely not

cable and hydro are not compatible
