Default 99 Accord Bad Tranny

Well, to add to my story of getting taken and just buying htis thing. I beleive the tranny is going bad. I had it serviced yesterday because only when it's cold it slips bad. Operates pretty good when it's warm. I drained the fluid and refilled to the correct level. It was overfilled. It's working better but I can tell it's gonan need to be replaced eventually.

Anybody have a similar problem? I know the tranny's in the 98-99's are weak. What's a good price for a rebuild?

The 98-02s are known to have AT trans issues.
When you changed the fluid did you do it three times? Draining the fluid only once removes ~3 quarts. The normal routine is to drain, refill, select all gears, drive around to circulate the fluid, drain and repeat. You cannot flush a Honda AT so this is the only way to change the fluid.

Call around and look for a transmission shop that is familiar with the problems associated with the 98-02 automatics.

Check out this link for a little move background on a few of the issues, http://www.sonnax.com/system/pdfs/35...pdf?1320330979

If you have some aptitude you can try removing the shift solenoids on the forward facing side of the trans and see if they are clogged or dirty. Click on the link in my sig to see how to remove, diagnose, and clean the shift solenoids.

Mine did the same when new-to-me at 150,000 miles. 2.3L. Drained and refilled several times and cured all but the least little slip between 1st and 2nd. Drove it nearly 20,000 miles this last year, but I'm easy on it. Cleaned the referenced solenoids last weekend and it downshifts much more smoothly now also. Might need just a little TLC - then again if it's a v-6 it might truly be on its way out on you. I'd do the cheap stuff first and see what happens unless your livelihood depends on having the car be ultra reliable.
My $.02 and good luck - hoping to coax 100,000 more out of mine...
