Earlier today I was at Home Depot and when I turned the car off to get out the radio kept playing even though the key was off and taken out of the ignition. both the radio and cigarette light had power. The problem has since gona away, I just wanna know if anyone else has had or knows what the problem is. Any suggestions on what it could be?

 

Stock set up or is there an aftermarket system installed?

Did you happen to have your cell phone plugged into the lighter?

 

Aftermarket radio installed using a harness, cell phone was not plugged in. I have had my cell plugged in before and everything worked as it should.

 

Ignition switches in the column go wear out. when they do the key can come out without turning the switch all the way to the off position. If it real bad you can start the car, and pull out the keys and toss 'em in the seat next to you. Yes, experience it on my '91 a few years ago.

 

Cant pull the key out with the key turned yet. It hasn't done it since that day so I dunno. I guess if it happens again I will get another ignition switch
