Front strut question???
Hi all. I have a 97 cl and I am going to put function and form type 2 s on it. I already have the rears on. Which mention new bushings because the old bolts were seized.
But with the fronts I want to know if I can undo the pinch bolts and get the strut out without undoing the bolt holding the fork to the lca. I really don't want to get new bushings right now.
Hopefully I can because I'm tired of driving with rear slammed lol. I have the rear at the full 3.6 inch drop. Tires tuckin, with alot of neg camber, but I will be doing the washer mod for fixing that. And if I need bushings I won't be getting the front done for another few weeks.
Thanks

The front usually comes right off if you bust it out with an air gun. I have yet to see the front one seized, and I live in MN where we get tons of snow. Only the rear ones will do that, not saying fronts can't.
You'll be fine with taking off the strut fork to front lower control arm bolt. It'll only be harder if you undo only at the pinch bolt.

If I can't get the bottom bolt out how would I go about getting the strut out without the fork coming off. And if I get the fork off of the lca how do I get em apart? Put the fork in a vice?
Once you get the fork off the LCA, you should be able to push it towards the engine or use a pry bar or something to pry it apart a bit just so you can move it towards the engine, and the whole shock assembly should drop down and remove it out from the car. Good Luck!
Allright I get it. Pretty much what I did to the rears. Cut the bolt moved the struts. But I just replaced the bushings by chiseling the old ones out.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully they aren't seized. I'm gonna get some pb blaster just to add a little hope lol.
