Ok so I just replaced the clutch, cable, pp, and bearing. Car drives fine but when you push the pedal to the floor it returns soft until it engages and then returns hard. What could cause that? It didn't do it before.

It's almost you can say its like sticky sort of.

 

try adjusting the cable
you sure you have the correct cable? you matched it with the old one?

 

Got it from advance and yeah this cable is actually like a quarter-half inch shorter my old one was stretched. It was really tight adjusted so I loosened it and got like maybe quarter inch of play now in the lever. That's good isn't it?

 

freeplay is checked at the pedal. you want about half inch freeplay at the top of the pedal

 

I'll check when I get home. Before it had about a quarter inch of Free play in the pedal.

 

Ok so it didn't help but pedal play is fine.. I read that it could be that the release bearing wasn't greased or something like that. Could that be it?

 

or you have a sticky cable.

check the clutch for for play and movement, see if it feels sticky

 

Most likely the cable. Is there a way to check how the cable is sticky? Pedal feels fine free play is good but all the way at the floor coming back up is when it feels sticky :/ I'm stumped. Thanks for all the help btw guys. This forum rocks.

 

check that the pedal return spring is in tact.

usually i like to shoot lube down and work it into a new clutch cable before i install

the clutch cable, kind of like a mtn bike cable on its last leg

thing is, if the cable is that sticky you probably should just replace it

 

Like wd40 or grease or what? I might pull out my new cable and compare it to my old one even though I'm sure it's stretched..I'm not sure though. The wire looks fine no frays or anything. I might toss in my old one and keep the new one for spare incase this one goes bad.

 

not implying that it's your problem here, but yea you just spray some lubricant down into the cable housing. try and find something better than wd40 though if you can

 

What would be good? All I have ATM is wd40.

 

we use a brand called moovit at work. good stuff

 

MoveIt FTW, way better then WD40 it is also what we use.

heato, Disconnect cable at the clutch release arm/lever and see how clutch pedal works, if still "sticky" lube the cable if not, the problem is at the clutch release, maybe there is a problem with the release fork spring, means pulling the transmission again. 94

 

The lever is fine. No stickiness. I pray to god no pulling the tranny. Did it twice already..

 

Then you should be getting good at it, but disconnect the cable at the transmission and test the pedal, if the problem is the cable it will still "stick", if it does not stick the problem is in the clutch release system. 94

if you have a buddy that can pull the cable by hand with vice grips while you test the pedal all the better, allows you to feel what the cable is doing
