o.k. heres the deal guys, when im driving at night my lights surge..as in they get a jolt of power and become bright as hell. does this on and off right ater each other.when this happens my battery light comes on(during the daytime also my battery light comes on and off), then when the lights get back to normal the battery light turns off. the other night i turn my high lights on and the car surged, now my high lights will not work, both fuses for the highlights are intact and good.

i have looked at all wires under the dash on the fusebox, thinking i had a loose connection..no dice, everything is hooked up right, looked for burned wires...none..

one of my custermers said something about a voltage meter built into the alternator...can i get a little more info on this before i go buy a new alt...thanks
fyi, new battery

 

buy a new alternator and check your grounds ....the voltage regulator is built into the alternator only other thing it might be is a malfunctioning eld unit and the only way to fix that is to replace your underhood fuse box

 

when i bought the car the dash lights never worked, and now they flicker everytime the car surges, then get dark when everything is norm.
for sure monday i will buy the alt, im hoping it fix this crap.

 

the new alt fixed the surging prob, now my highlights still dont work or my dash lights... any ideas?? both fuses for the highlights are good.
