Just bought 1999 Accord

Kind of upset about it... I got taken a little. The guy had the title, clean title. Car shows 160k. Car is in decent shape, leather interior, just dirty, probably smoked in. I took a chance even thought the guy seemed shady because the price was right and it runs good. (paid $3200)
Long story short, I ran carfax after I bought it (I know I should of beforehand)... 1 owner until this guy bought it, however when he bought it 5 months ago it had 187k. So he rolled back the odometer. I would have still bought it even at 200k probably, but now I will have a shady car history. Of course he won't answer his phone.
Anyways, what is the reliability of the V6 on the 99? Also, should I worry about the odometer discrepancy or not really because it's close to 200k anyways? I plan on re-selling this car in a year or so for a newer Honda so now I'm worried I won't be able to with the odometer mark that will show on the Carfax when I register it.
Not sure about the reliability of the v6 engine. You will have to be up front with the next buyer/owner about the mileage. Keep the original carfax report and show it to the department of vehicles in your state and see what recourse you have. As-Is Sales are always going to be a buyer beware situation. If it looks too good to be true, it is.
I'll probably keep her unless she becomes a money pit. I do want to get new shocks and stuff.
If you can prove the prev. owner registered the car with > 160K, these links may help (if you're in thje US). If you bought the car in Canada, look up AMVIC. You might have a case as the DMV (registry in Canada) is public record, i.e. you may be able to prove the rollback occurred between when the prev. owner bought it and sold it to you. Was the seller a dealer? Reason I ask is that the same thing happened to me -- dealer had rolled back the odo. and I proved it. Went back to him and got $700 cash back to keep it quiet. Worth a try anyway. Bought a clutch and stereo with the cash.

Out here in California there are too many people crooked like that. The DMV has been doing some investigations into people who do not have a Wholesaler's License in the state. Way too many people are buying cars that could potentially be a danger to themselves and to other drivers. As far as I know, many of these people are buying them from Insurance auctions. They are repairing them and getting salvage titles from the DMV. Maybe there should be a law against putting a vehicle back on the road that was in an accident?
It's a commuter car for work. I am trying to buy a house and don't want a car payment until after I close on my house to know what I can afford. I drive 40+ miles a day and used to have a Jeep grand Cherokee, wanted better gas mileage.

He didn't even roll it back much... Worst case in 6 months he put 12k on it still only 200k. Not sure why he didn't do like 120, lol.
You should definitely look into changing the timing belt (might as well do the water pump too) since it's probably around the 200k mark. Also make sure to check the tranny fluid, if it's not pink get it changed. If nothing major is wrong just keep it.
