Craftsman 33 gal air compressor. what tools for it?? help?
hi i just bought a 33 gallon Crafatsman air compressor for home basic use.
the specs of the 33 Gallon tank is 1.6 horsepower motor, 5.1 scfm @90psi and 6.3 scfm @40psi.
i have some tools at work and i just found out my 1/2 bluepoint gun takes about 6.2 and my 3/8 snap on impact gun also takes i think 6. i ran my DA sander and angle grinder just fine.
i ran my impact guns and the reg gauge dipped below 50psi and it felt like only 1/2 the power. unlike when i using it at work.
i am looking for impact gun that will be atleast 5.1 scfm @ 90psi.
if i get a lower scfm @90 psi like 4 or 3 scfm etc. will it still run full throttle @90psi. or do i have to get exact 5.1 scfm gun.
what impact 1/2 guns will be good and sutible for my compressor. i also want to have at least 400 ftlbs torque. for the gun.
anyone had any experiences with the impact guns brands that rated for my application?
snapon, matco, etc.
thankyou

imo you can get a lower rated cfm gun but its got gonna be any better, you need a bigger compressor if your wanting to run tools with cfm ratings like that. you could try to get a 3/8 gun and use an adaptor to 1/2. my 3/8 matco gun will bust practically anything loose, but i also use a 80 gallon compressor with around 18 cfm.
gool luck though!

With impact guns, duty cycle has a huge impact. If you are going to be using it constantly, you need a bigger compressor (for example: taking lugnuts off of multiple cars in short periods of time.) Other than that, you can get a gun that requires more CFM and just let your tank refill every once in a while.

Ok so i can use my impact gun with the more scfm than normal tank specs. How long will it take to use says 6 bar @90on my gun. I havent use it and might return due to leakage. If i adjust the regulator to higher pressure when using my gun will i be able to run my gun max like to its req. specs. I will be using it to remove trans and mount bolts at a time. Will adjusting the reg. Hose pressure do anything for my gun. I want to use my gun at max. How long can i use.
FYI...most pneumatic air tools to run to their full potential is at a 90 psi. So due to the lack of air that needs to run the tool will always run but not to their max. Like what everybody else on here suggest...you need a 60 gallon tank min.
I used to work for this guy, and he had a dual compressor setup. One big 80 gallon with an 5HP motor, and a 60 gallon with a 5hp motor. 60 gallon was connected to the 80, and the air hose connected to the 80. Was a damn good setup too. The 60 would run down air first, leaving me 80 gallons to use while the 60 would refill.
