New clutch - aftermarket vs OEM?
Hello guys!
Let me say that I did try few times to find a topic on clutch but it didn't work.
If I'm asking something common, please throw up a link to read.
I'm about to change my clutch.
I called my local dealer and they told me - $499 (flywheel, disk, pressure plate, pilot and throwing bearings).
Should I go with the OEM clutch or get any aftermarket?
I do occasionally autoX and spirited driving.
Also I so on ebay that they sell clutch kits for about $200.
Are they good enough? Also any recommendations on aftermarket clutch?
Is it mandatory to replace the flywheel along with the clutch disc?
Thanks in advance!

As stated inspect then go from there.. if you do replace the clutch disc, I recommend resurfacing the flywheel.
Check out competition clutch kits.. Mine has held up great.. also search again in advanced search ''topic titles only'' several topics on aftermarket clutches.

This is the suggested replacement if it's in your budget:

I would recomend flywheel resurfacing if it needs it but if the clutch in your car now is original it's not really a priority since the clutch materials are the same. This is basically an OEM replacement clutch.

As posted above and what most are going to recommend go with an exedy

I would second that you cant go wrong with the exedy. I have also had great luck with ACT in the past, but they will be a little more expensive than the exedy that was linked above.
Haha. Don't wanna get of topic here but I had a ACT HDSS on my GSR and that thing was a beast!
Aftermarket clutches are generally just as good, if not better than OEM, and a hell of a lot cheaper. Just avoid the sketchy eBay brands.
Check out http://www.clutchflywheel.com. I bought my current Comp Clutch six puck from them. Quick shipping, and the customer service is top notch. When I called them and told them what I had, and what I was planning on doing, they gave me a few recommendations, and the guy I talked to was totally cool just bullshitting on the phone talking shop and helping me understand more about clutches than I'll ever need to know. It also helps that I couldn't find the same clutch cheaper ANYWHERE else, even eBay.
The most important thing is torque. Know how much torque you make, and order a clutch that can handle 15% more. Any decent clutch manufacturer WILL have torque ratings available for all of their clutch/pressure plate combinations, either on their website, or over the phone.

No that clutch is for a Civic EX. Diameter is different. You need the one for a B series.

Do it. I have almost 100k on mine and it gets abused. Tuned and modded B16. Only thing is I have a ACT street light flywheel but it really shouldn't make a difference. Really the key to a long lasting clutch is the install. If it's not bolted on correctly it'll pop a spring before it wears out.
im going to look into it
my cusin can get me a type r flywheel brand new and that way I will only have to get me the clutch
but I will look into an exedy or act flywheel as well
is there any problem I maay tun into by combining a clutch and a flywheel that arent made by the same company?

No, like I said I have an Exedy Stg 1 and ACT streetlite fly wheel with almost 100k on it. It gets abused and it hasn't slipped yet(knock on wood).
B16 trans by the way.
