Question about autopower street vs race rollbar for integra.
I am looking at purchasing a roll bar for my 94 GSR and have not seen many pictures of the actual bars except for the race setup with removeable bar. Does anyone have the street rollbar? It doesn't have a bar to mount a harness but if I get a harness bar and street roll bar I assume that sould be ok. Is the race setup any better as it comes with an optional removeable harness bar. I did a search but there are not many pics about the street roll bar.
Thanks,

are you really ever going to remove the cross brace ?
IMO not many people would ever need to , the back seat is unsafe for passengers with the addition of the bar itself anyway.

i think the street bar doesn't have the cross bars or a harness bar. just the main hoop if i'm correct...
well then boo to that.
I thought it was just whether the center brace was removable or not.
I'm getting custom or the race bar so I havent even checked into the "street" version.

From what I've seen, the ones with removable bracing are more hassle than they're worth. Getting the braces out of the car is enough of a PITA that you probably won't do it.
Even so, the back seat is useless for passengers regardless of what kind you get. Unhelmeted head + steel bar + accident = Very Bad Things.

monkey barz are better, powercoated metal flake orange preferably. thats what i run, and forget about harnesses, i removed them along with the seatbelts because they are just dead weight i dont need at the stripp y0.

It is getting slightly freaking annoying to read an honest question and see the thread go to crap by people who feel the need to post information worthless to the topic at hand.
Yes, the street rollbar does not have the center brace. The race rollbar has the center section. You can order the harness bar feature as an option, as well as the removable center section. The difference between getting a separate harness bar and using that with the street rollbar, is that the harness bar will likely mount to some point in the car, since most separate harness bars I've seen mount that way. As such, the harness bar will not be attached to the rollbar like the race rollbar's center brace, which is a structural member. I would suggest the race rollbar. I got mine with the removable crossbrace, which I indeed did move in and out of the car. Mine didn't exactly just SLIDE into place, it needs to be coerced with a fair bit of work to get it to bolt into place. I used my car to haul a bunch of stuff, and I needed the center section out for that.

I've heard that it's a real PITA to remove the bolt-in bars once everything's in.

Isn't a pointless reply basically the same thing as an off-topic thread? Don't they both qualify as "noise"? Isn't this board moderated to try to keep the noise level to a minimum? Humor is fine and dandy, and can be a great way to make a point, but it sure seems like the pointless mockery in this forum has reached a ridiculous level recently. Simply dismissing something as "bling bling" or "stunna" conveys no useful information whatsoever.
I hear people complaining about people asking questions that don't apply to racing or asking the same question over and over, and I thoroughly agree that a little prior research goes a long way. But you have to keep in mind that the search feature here is not that great and that the prior discussion of a topic won't always completely answer a new person's question. You also gotta keep in mind that this is a road racing and autocross forum, and the requirements are somewhat different between the two. Just because something doesn't apply to road racing (because of safety concerns or regulations or whatever), doesn't mean it doesn't apply to autocross. You also gotta keep in mind that some of the people in here are hard core racers, with a dedicated race car and a trailer and a tow vehicle, and others are just weekend warriors who have to drive their car to every event and then to work the next day. Again, the requirements of the two can be very different.
Wouldn't it be great if this forum had 90% or more useful content? Sometimes it seems like about 10% content and 90% drivel. Wouldn't it be great if you could post a question and get a useful answer (even if it's "try searching for this...") rather than being buried in "humorous" replies? Maybe, when a question doesn't apply to your area of interest, instead of making a "humorous" but meaningless reply, you could just not bother to reply at all? That would save you time in replying and my time in reading. Wouldn't it be great if you could come here once a day, read all of the new posts in a few minutes and maybe even learn something new? As it is, I often end up spending my entire lunch hour skimming through all the junk and end up feeling like I wasted my time.
Sorry about the lengthy, somewhat preachy reply, and I promise to say nothing further on the subject, but you did ask "whats the big deal?"

Has anyone ever seen the street model installed in a car? Is it any good compared to the race model? I am looking at the street model or removeable bar model because I haul alot of things too and the bar would get in the way.
If I get the street bar, I was planning on adding a separate harness bar that mounts to the seatbelt anchors just behind the front the head rests. Or should I just get the race bars and remove the harness bar and other bar when I want to put stuff in the back seats?
Thanks,
AW

This works great and increases the carrying capacity of your Integra.
Since any rollbar makes the rear seats useless for carrying people, why not remove the rear seats and load all of the things you may need to carry from the hatch?

I have a rear strut bar and whenever I put my race tires in the trunk I have found it easier loading and unloading them from the passenger side door since the sit on the rear seats. With the high lift of the integra trunk and the rear bar, the easiest place for me to put the wheels is through the passenger side door. If I get the race set up the bars will be in the way. If the street bar works ok, of course it won't be as stiff as the race, I will get that setup with a harness bar across the front seatbelt posts.
Also what is your reason for getting the rollbar in the first place? If you don't track the car that often, it sounds like the inconvenience of having a rollbar might outweigh the benefits.
I guess I am getting old, so loading anything through the trunk is aggravating my back(old accident).
I also have to lift them over the rear strut bar as they do not all fit before the strut bar. I track the car about 10 times a year so not sure if that is a lot. I also like the feeling of using the Sparco harness and seat I already have so the roll bar would make everything safer at high speed tracks like Mosport.
I am surprised that no one uses just the street bar? Is it that much worse than the race bar?
Thanks

I had the race bar in my ITR for a while, and it had the removable cross braces. I only took them out one time, and that was to see if I could. I could, and they went back in fine, and they were never removed again. If I were to do it again, I would forget the removable option. The added safety of a cross brace in the main hoop isn't trivial. Even if you don't run a harness bar, you'll want the cross brace. It keeps the main hoop from flattening, which is really the only job of the roll bar in the first place. If it were me, I would also stick with the harness bar incorporated into the roll bar. It's just easier, one less part to buy and install, and you can trust it. Otherwise you'd have to buy hardware to mount the shoulder straps somewhere safe, and then get a harness guide bar to keep them level behind your shoulders. Much easier just to get a roll bar with the harness bar. As for the loading/unloading of the tires, I feel your pain (literally). I ended up buying a tire trailer, which is the extreme solution. The race bar WILL prevent loading tires from the front.
EDIT: I think the reason nobody uses the street bar is because the price difference between street + other harness bar is roughly the same as just the race bar. Plus, you get the safety of the cross brace.

If yor are installing the rollbar for protection, get the one with the diagonal. Without that triangulation, it is a compromise WAY too far toward looks - particularly at Mosport. "Street rollbar" is a little oxymoronic, if you think about it - you don't need a rollbar on the street, unless it is for show.
If you ever time a lap when you track your car, you have crossed the line to "speed event" and at that point, it's "time" for a roll cage and proper race seat to go with those harnesses. Be safe!

Thanks for the great responses everyone. I will look into getting the race bar so that I have the extra security of the diaganol bar. It will go well with my Sparco Rev seat and harness.
