Alright I have a 91 accord f22a1 I have oil in all 4 spark plugs I read that I can change the seals under the rocker arms but also I took my valve cover off and it seems to me that the seals on the valve cover are pretty warn, would that be the problem or the ones under the rocker arms?... newer valve cover gasket, it has a studder sometimes from 1 grand to 2500 rpms, oh and also my speed ometer don't work or odometer if any one could help with any of this it would be much apreachiated... thanks.

 

I would do a compression & leak down test on the car. Sounds like you may have worn rings as well. If the rings are worn & it's letting oil by and covering the spark plugs, it's probably not worth it to put $$ into the car.

 

Oil in the spark plug tubes has nothing to do with compression, he is talking about oil getting in there, not on the spark plug firing end.

Not sure of your mechanical aptitude. But if you are going to take the time to replace the upper seals, you might as well do the lower ones while you are in there. Where you will be removing the rocker assembly. You should also have the tools and specs in order to do a valve adjustment. A Helms manual will come in handy for this type of job.

The inoperable speedometer and odometer could be due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS) or the gauge cluster itself. Do you have cruise control and does it still work? If you have cruise and it doesn't work. It is more than likely an issue with the VSS. If your cruise works. It is more than likely something in the gauge cluster/speedometer circuit.

 

Exactly this is the same thing that happened to me. My spark plugs eventually were fouled out and my car would not start on cold mornings. After I changed the the seals beneath the rocker arm assembly, problem solved. No oily spark plugs since.

I had the same problem man when i had my cover painted the person who did it put the o rings on backwords and it was leting oil into my spark plugs.

 

Okay thanks guys. I'm going to buy the seals. And I'm 19 going to college for auto tech I'm already ase certified. And I do have the tools I already plaind on doing the valves. And I do have cruise control but it don't work so you also got that right! is that the sensor on the tranny held in by 3 screws? And now my fuel pump went out I pulled up the trunk carpet and pulled what I thought was the fuel pump but its just the floater do I have to drop the tank?

 

And the o rings on my valve are pretty worn and some have small tears I plain on changing them too

 

usually when you replace the valvecover gasket the sparkplug tube seals will come with it, i would take out the plugs clean em off with brake clean, put new tube seals(the ones on the valve cover) and see where that takes you, also for your cluster, take it out and look on the wiring if you see any burn marks or a bad connection, stuff like that can be fixxed with a simple solder connection
