J swap 91 si
Ok I know most of you are clicking on this link thinking.... WOW I can't wait to see this hatch with a J in it, but thats the future. First I got some questions so this mythical beast can be brought to life. I found a $350 02 Accord engine 3.0 without the tranny. I know I'm going to need some new mounts and axles, but really what all we be needed to attempt this swap? I think I read somewhere that the 6 speed tranny from the Acura CL will fit it, but I've been reading that there's problems with clearance issues with the hood concerning the fuel rail and the headers, if im not correct please say something. None the less I would really appreciate any info/ technical support from anyone out there in the HT world that has seen this done or has done it themselves. I'm not wanting to turbo it or do anything crazy forced induction. I just want to get my hatch running again and found this eninge for super cheap. Oh yeah my current setup is a ZC that is giving me hella trouble with leaky spark plug terminals and compression issues. It's in limp mode right now and won't stay cranked. No trolls or negative comments please.
Because you just want to get your hatch running again. People that need their cars up and running again don't do things like this. On the other hand if you absolutely want to do this, I'd have to ask you how much your budget is to get this completed? How far are you willing to cut corners (almost literally if you know what I mean)? How much researching have you done on your own? How much are the remaining parts going to cost? How knowledgeable are you about wrenching on your car? Are you going to do it your own?
EDIT:
"Hasport" is on this website. You can try to ask directly what will need to be done.
Hondatuning also featured a few J swaps in the past few years. Some questions may be answered by checking them out if you've never seen those issues.

if you really wanna do a nutty swap i have a complete 91 accord 5speed f22a6 w/an lsd trans .....all you need is mounts a traction bar setup and some time wiring and clearancing and youll be able to close the hood ill sell ya the whole car for 400
i agree with 24TEN
if you need to get your car up and running then a j-swap is not the way to go
for info on the swap
any 04 up accord 6 spd trans or 04 up tl 6spd trans will work
the cl 6spd trans is a unicorn as it was only produced in 2003 and in limited quanities
yes you will have to cut the hood

meh, it's been done, some guy in Calgary built one here already, lot of work, too much for what you get if you ask me. You could do a K24 swap with add on's make just as much or more power with a much easier install, and even that will still be some work
What engine is this?... 6 cylinder?
I understand that this isnt an easy swap but after finding the engine for $350 i kind of want to attempt it. If everyone was told they couldnt do something and didnt try then where would we all be today. I got some people that are mechanical savy about all this stuff and I know enough. I'm seeing this build as a learning process that I've been wanting to experience since the first day I sat in my car.
Nothing!
I'm all in favor of him doing it! Just trying to give him a realistic cost but based off the idea that the motor is cheap sounds like the OP will have to save up a bit if you end up j-swapping take lots of pics and start a build!

He is obviously not willing to spend the money since he just wants to get his car running and found a motor for cheap. He is being cheap, what makes you think he will do such a build.
He could do what ever the F**k he wanna do.

i just finished a j32a2 in my ek coupe... i did mine for much less than the price of a k but its taken me a lil over a year for me to find the quality parts i used at a price that wouldnt kill me, i also had help from friends of mine that are just as good as me if not better. this is not by any means a cheap swap. but you will need major things
not a j30! garbage *** motors will give you 9 kinds of hell no matter what... so get a type s j32a2 cable driven motor (99-03 tl or cl type s) or even newer.
trannys were covered above.
either innovative or hasport mounts (if they even make them for an ef) may have to be custom mounts (i personnaly dunno)
axles
wiring harness
cut a giant hole in your hood
upgrade front suspension
supremely suggest upgrading your brakes (to include master cylinder and booster)
appropriate ecu
skills and time... you would be one of the first... so i dont know ifyou would have to cut out part of your subframe or anything under the hood of such a small car to even make this work. i researched for months on everything i would need to complete this before i even made a budget... think it through. get something to drive in the meantime... it would be cool as hell but this isnt a cheap swap...
i can tell you personally that i did it to be different and powerful and dependable... im making almost 300 whp and its on an all stock internals (frankenstein build btw) and for the motor its not pushing it to the limits and its held up so far with no problems. but for the same money ive put into my j32 build i could have put up much more power out of my rt4wd wagon d16. just think it through. and not to mention there is only one reliable company for j swaps as it is and that RPM systems. give those guys a call and tell them what you wanna do. just give them a call at 845 795 5398. don is owner and he is pure genious. he can tell you everything you need to know.

I know how to wrench on my car but to this extent may be a little hard for me alone. I do have a buddy that has done a multitude of swaps and has said he would help me, but the only problem with that is he works on land oil rigs and is gone most the time. Plus he has his own projects and I'm guessing working on someone else's car isn't gonna be a priority. You think these RPM dudes would do the swap for me?
i cant speak on their behalf but i do know several swaps they have done. did you call them yet? do that first or at the very least go their website at www.go-rpm.com i dont have all your answers which is why i gave you their number. Don is about the most knowledgeable guy ive ever talked to when it comes to car maintenance in general. i ordered my custom harness for my particular swap through them but know that having them do it is gonna be a bit more expensive since you have to take into consideration their labor but it will be done right from every other swap ive ever seen or read about them doing
