PANIC:2011 Honda Civic with 1000 miles won't go
I've got a 2011 Honda civic type S 1.4 with just over 1000 miles on the clock( I hardly use it).
In fact it hasn't been used for a couple of months.
Yesterday I started it up and it felt very sluggish in 1st gear and required a lot of revs. Into 2nd gear and it needed even more revs. After about 100m no matter how many revs I gave the engine it wouldn't move and just drifted to a stop. Tried all the gears and nothing: no drive.
After about 5 minutes I tried 1st again and it moved a bit under high revs and I had to rev to nuts off the engine to get it the 100m back home.
Before I call for breakdown service, what could have gone wrong in an essentially new car?
thanks for any help,
msives

Can you give us any info on what you did as prep work before driving the car off... since it hasn't moved for a couple of month usually you do a few things to make sure everything is good.
Was the clutch friction point hard to find?
Example:
Did you?
Check the oil level
Check the battery
Check all other fluid levels
Has the fuel gone bad?
Just more details of what you did with the car before driving it will helps us out a little more to give you some advice!

hi,
I didn't check any fluid levels before I drove it.
It started fine and the engine ran and revved smoothly and as normal.
I seem to remember that the clutch felt strange initially in that I had to give it a lot of revs to move it off the drive (it's not a flat drive so it was hard to tell and I had to do 3 point turn on gravel and grass to get it off the drive)
Once I got the car onto the road, it felt strange: a lot of revs were needed to get it from 1st to 2nd and going into 2nd felt like Id gone into 5th. The road was all downhill and when i got to the bottom I stopped for a junction and couldnt pull away: no drive no matter how many revs. The engine was revving fine but it wouldn't go. eventually, as I said, it did manage to go a bit and I just got home where there was a burning smell from the engine.

it sounds like the clutch is fried... most probably due to over use of it. The problem is obviously a tranny issue and most probably the clutch is the main issue.
