Car goes into gear, won't move when clutch is let out... :(
Tried doing some google searches with no luck so here goes:
Symptoms:
-Car goes into gear with engine on, but no matter what gear you let the clutch out in the car won't go anywhere or stall.
-High pitched, but somewhat "silent"(it's just not loud.), whirring noise that goes away when clutch is pushed in.
-Speedometer does not move from zero when we accelerate in any gear, so kinda ruling out the axles being out of the tranny but gonna check tomorrow anyways.
-Just happened all of the sudden in the middle of a normal shift from 3rd to 4th.
Any ideas on what it could be would be helpful, I appreciate it, thanks.

Sorry I didn't post, its a 97 honda civic, manual tranny. Speedo works fine, just doesnt move from zero now when you accelerate in gear.
Yeah axles are fine, checked this morning.
I'm thinking this has more to do with that whirring noise that's there when the clutch is engaged, that also goes away when the clutch is disengaged.
Guessing input shaft bearing or maybe the release bearing, not sure which one would make a noise with the clutch engaged.

I'm having the same problem with eg hatch but mine doesn't make that high pitched sound and my shifter feels kinda loose and when I try to put it in gear it feels like my tranny has no gears like my gears ain't engaging cause hear no click when its in gear any one know what the problem could be?
Oh yeah also forgot to say when I go to put the shifter in gear without pushing the clutch in none of the gears grind when the car is on. The car just won't move and engage into gear

Either you guys,
1.) Didn't install clutch flywheel correctly
2.) input shaft bearing is bad.
3.) Throw out bearing is toast..
check fluid also..

I'm having a similar issue with my 06 euro R
The clutch works and the gears aren't grinding when selected, but when I let off the clutch there's a whining sound coming from the gearbox. The car won't move just sounds worse but it also doesn't stall...
This started when I went for a drive and shifted from 1st to 2nd. there was a clunk followed by a loud whining and no power to the wheels.

so gear box has been removed but not opened as yet. Only findings were a completely worn friction plate. No damage to axles or diff. Output shaft spins freely, no gritting or clunking. Will be changing clutch and fly wheel soon and re-installing parts for testing
problem was with the clutch disc. The inside splines were completely worn and stopped making contact with the output shaft
I have seen this issue multiple times with ACT clutches... that isn't "worn", it is defective. The splined hub wasn't properly hardened. What brand of clutch do you have ?
