1991 Honda Accord 4 cylinder, 4 door, 5 speed.

Starts hard in cold weather. Starts fine in warm weather. The colder the weather requires longer crank times but always starts.

If cold and a tad of carb cleaner is sprayed into the air cleaner it starts immediatly.

Running and idle are fine, everything ok after starting.

Acts just like a small engine cold start with a bad auto choke or faulty primer.

I looked at the Chiltons manual but could not find anything about a cold start circuit or cold start injector like on a older VW I once had.

How can I deal with this? Is it all done through the main computer box and main relay?

 

• Battery starting to get weak maybe?

You could also look at cleaning/testing/replacing your idle air control valve, fast idle thermal valve or your air boost valve. The CB (90-93) Accords have 3 air metering valves that are used to control the feed of air into the intake under different circumstances. This is Honda's cold start circuit. There is a pretty good DIY in the FAQ.

A couple other things that you could look at;
• Engine coolant temperature sensor and the
• Fuel pressure regulator.

 

Bat and cranking is fine.
OK on the air sensing and the three air sensors. I didn't have clue. I'll checkout the FAQ. Thanks for the reference.
