Power steering return hoses?...
Doing a power steering rehab this weekend. I have a new rack unit, a pump seal kit, and a high-pressure hose. Advance Auto has the three OE-size return hoses listed as 4', 3', and 15". Does this sound right? I know I'll need clamps to attach them to the steel line ends. Anything else I need to consider? Thanks for any advice.
The rack is leaking fluid at both ends; the pump shaft seal is leaking; and it has had non-Honda steering fluid. Since I'm replacing the rack and rebuilding the pump anyway, I figure may as well go ahead and do hoses too. So, any input on the hose lengths I asked about?
I automatically assume that I'm asking for trouble every time I open my tool box lid. I replaced my fuel pump the other day. What a delightful treat that was. But the problem is fixed.

Yeah- just wondered if anyone had done this. I intend to do the rack first, then swap out the hoses one at a time so as not to get confused (easy for me to do), then remove/rebuild/replace the pump. I'll go ahead and buy the hoses (the lengths seem ballpark, at least) and go from there.
I've set aside the weekend to get it done, so hopefully I won't get my back against the wall. I don't let the fact that I really have no business doing this stuff deter me...

Sorry if this is an old post. Might be leaking due to non OEM fluid? I've had good luck using Lucas stop leak PS fluid for a few hundred miles, then was able to change the fluid back. It must have an additive that swells the seals.
