Honda Del Sol Quarter Panel Repair
Hi Guys.
Well I got myself ****ed over by going with this Arab guy (Considering every Arab I've dealt with was either shady or screwed me over. They'll be added to my list of people not to associate with.) who had sold me on the fact that he could do my Quarters. Said he would be done in a week tops. Well after 8 weeks, $950 and a few phone calls to the police I got my car back.
He didn't fix the rust from behind (which was apart of the deal) and I want to minimize the loss as much as possible in redoing the quarters myself (having to cut out as less as possible...if possible).

Rust I need to access

Area of potential cut

I was planing on making a cut (orange box in picture above.) to fit my hand and my iron bristle brush in their. Apply some hard friction (lol...hard friction..lol) for several hours and then apply anti-rust black paint. followed by some primer (as another sealant? Suggestions on this?). and then finish off with using a 90 degree angel fiberglass form to cover the quarter panel and the inside wheel well.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a way to remove it, or are they welded on?
I would cut there anyway and fabricate something with sheet metal, it looks like it has been bondo-ed. I would also fabricate some of the rust you are trying to remove then weld it in.
Looks like your painting that car? If so, keep me posted, i'm gonna need as much advice as i can get on my sol's paint.
Note: I'm arab.

Well. I listen to life experiences. Especially the one that occurs frequently and unfortunely I've made a decision. However, I'm respectable towards all.
Anyways. Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing just wanted a second guess.
Your sol's paint? Look at the Tremclad/Rustoleum $50 paint job thread above. I plan on experimenting this way. I wanted a Panda sol and white comes out great this method.
I would get a whole new quarter if I were you. The whole wheel lip looks messed up. And with that huge amount of rust on the bottom there, you are going to need a much bigger section to fix the rust behind it. If you don't fix what is wrong behind the quarter, you will not be able to fix what is wrong on the out side. Can't weld to rust.
IM A PIANTER AND BODY REPAIR, FIRST CUT THE RUST OUT OF THE WHEELWELL AND THE 1/4 PANEL THEN WELD IF YOU WAN TO DOIT RIGTH A PIECE OF SHEET METAL ON BOTH WHEELWELL AND 1/4 PANEL, GRIND OFF BRUSH SOME RUSTOLUEM SONE KITTYHAIR FIBERGLASS SMOOTH IT OUT PRIMER PREP AND PAINT. OR GET A HOLE NEW 1/4 PANEL

I got new quarters coming. If my first attempt doesn't work, then I'll just weld in new sections.
I'm taking this on as a learning process.

I bought mine off of a member here. fixmyrust.com does not sell Honda Del Sol quarters.
So does anyone know of a few places that sell Del Sol quarter panels, door skins or floor panels?

Yea I know D. I've experiemented already in Grinding, using a iron bristle brush and some anti-rust paint. I'm going to give it two weeks and see how it holds against the elements.

Thanks for the advice Simon.
Yea if this doesn't work out. I'll just re-do.

i could do it if you were local, ive made a few Fiberglass rear 1/4's in the past and put molded 1/4's on any cars i replace rust on. its just easier and they will never rust out again
