Icon2 Car not starting: check oil + battery light

Car: 92 EG CX D15B8
Alright so my problems started when my cam bolts broke and my valve cover gasket needed to be changed and was leaking oil. After the bolts were removed and I had a valve adjustment, my friend put everything together except the gasket... (What a simple mistake) but the car seemed to run 2x better. After 2 days of driving, I bought new sparkplugs, ignition wires, and valve cover gasket and changed it all out. Now once I tried to start the car, it wouldn't start, and the check oil and battery light came on.

I was then told that my alternator had died and that a new one would solve the problem. So after blowing off all my money this month, I bought a new one installed that, and the problem continues to come up. At this point I am broke and I retraced my steps thoroughly to make sure I didn't do anything wrong. I had my friend check for me, and so far I got the gasket, sparkplugs and wires properly installed. My dizzy, oil, and battery seem to be fine. Now I'm just stumpped... Now before you guys attack me, I'm only human, we make mistakes and I try my best to learn from them. (I know grumblemarc is gunna murder me haha!) So can you guys kindly help a kid out with his car?

Have you jumped the service connector to pull the CEL code? How exactly did the cam bolts break?

As said any cels? So it ran fine until you changed spark plugs, wires, and valve cover gasket? Check to make sure your spark plug wires are on right. And did you remember to reconnect the ground on the valve cover?

How do I pull the CEL? Lol I'm sorry, I'm still learning. I can't seem to find that in the haynes manual either. Would it be under chassis electrical system? And I broke my cambolts for a VERY stupid reason. I torqued the nuts that hold the valve cover down, which for the the D15B8 also happen to be 2 cambolts... I learned my lesson lol...

The wires are should be right, placed in 1,3,4,2 order. And I think my ground cables are fine. Out of the 4, I only removed 2 of them and reconnected them. One for the valve cover and the other connected to the alternator.

Thanks for the help everyone I got her running. I mixed up the firing order... I was following the haynes manual while also being confused by reading different articles online... -_- I feel so stupid... Now I know the proper order, and next time to label my wires. Boy I'm gunna get a lot of negative comments LOL

We reserve the negative comments for morons. You figured the problem out, fixed it, and let everyone know what you did to fix it. You aren't a moron, you just made a simple mistake. **** happens.
