I'm tearing apart my car to do a wire tuck and and paint prep, The tranny in my 95 coupe quit putting power out, it almost sounds as if an axle is broke...lol i wish my car was strong enough to do that, ANYWAYS, to the baby, I was planning on swapping out the tranny...engine is a b16a2...fairly sure from a usdm civic si, what i was going to ask is there any sort of transmission combos that are pretty potent with the small engine? I've heard of gear stack changes and things of the sort, but haven't delved into such things yet...any advice would be lovely

 

The b16 is really about as short as gears get. The only real upgrade using OEM available stuff is the 4.4 FD ITR trans with LSD (same gears, just LSD) or the 4.7 FD ITR trans with LSD, (different 4th and 5th IIRC, and 4.7FD)

What do you mean the "tranny quit putting power out?"

Are you sure your clutch isn't toast?

 

Higher final drive or custom gear set. 4.7 or 4.9.

 

Libertariat, I am not sure on the clutch, upon a little more inspection the sound is from the gear box it's self, it could be the clutch or flywheel or synchros...no fluid...god knows what, It needed a rebuild before I tracked it anyways, and an LSD would be lovely, now to find one!

 

I ordered a reconditioned ITR trans with an LS 5th, MFactory LSD from Synchrotech transmissions with full carbon synchros.

Pricey, but worth every penny.

 

Whats pricey? How many millions do I need to save? hahaha
