Ef ZC Double or Single ?
Wow dohc zc! Are those still bieng sold? They are ancient. Well I have ran both and for the most part I liked the dohc after some mods to make it more reliable. Look for a da distributor post then you run a sohc zc distributor this eliminates the stupid hunk of crap cps that is hanging off the end of the dohc ex cam. )You run the wires from the boxy hunkacrap to the internal cps on the sohc distributor. I always liked the da cpu for the higher 7300rpm cut off. 87 prelude timing belt. I would always smooth the castings in the intake/exhaust ports because back then and maybe still the castings sucked. Oil drain back passeges in the head need some massageing as well. I always ran the stock zc dohc exhaust upper and lower manifold. It is larger internal diameter than a dc header but needs porting (sh!tty castings). Make sure that you run a new tps on the og dohc zc throttle body it is bigger.
Dohc zc is a great engine but it was hondas Frankenstein and need a little fluffing up.

I've always called it the bastard engine of D-Series since no one has heard of them much.(might be ironic) ahaha I like yours.

Are you from the bay area?
If you're looking for a DOHC ZC i got one if interested. Name your price!
( not trying to make this a FS thread, Just an FYI )
I have a d16a2 motor, a DOHC ZC motor and ended up going with the SOHC ZC. It was just a motor that i can use and use pretty much the stock parts thats why i went with that move. I wish i had the patience to get everything together with the DOHC ZC. I got to get a ride with one swapped and they feel pretty good. They almost remind me of the b18a motor, but without the same amount of pull. Its all about preference and like everyone else said "your future plans"

I love my DOHC ZC, been rocking it since early 2000's, really no issues and its boosted
If you are looking for a fun under 200hp engine, DOHC ZC Turbo is for you, anymore look elsewhere with parts being hard to find
I like the fact that the DOHC ZC was made for the EF, just a nice combo

I looked it the old shop corner pile of crap and found 1 good head with clean cam guides but it needs new valve train, cams and cam caps. I also found a set of cams with a crazy profile. Lol old crap
Check from some of the online importers, you might spend more including shipping, but the theory is that they are lower mileage, thus "better" engines to run. All I can say is stay away from Osaka, I heard some very shady stuff from them. Try like tigerjapanese.com
hmo motors....um moshimoshi might...jr auto those three i would try but damn i always wanted a dohc zc they like a de stroked b18 lol but i got a d15b vtec instead... for internals hit up bisimoto he works with them
That would make two of us
I love hearing how people say one is better than the other and that parts are hard to find. The reality of it is, if you know what the equivalent parts are then it's not any harder to find parts for the twin cam version. And for every good story about anything in life you'll hear more bad stories from different people about the same subject, the DOHC ZC isn't immune from horror stories. At the end of the day it's still a 1.6 and is essentially like any other 1.6 D-series except it has an extra cam. "CWEBTB" has had his for a very long time just as I have and I personally never had any complaints.

Negative. The DOHC ZC has its own cover/timing belt cover. Mounting areas are different same as shape of timing belt cover.

HOWEVER- www.tenbytencustomcarbon.com makes a carbon fiber timing belt cover for it, which is nice since usually the plastic cover is scratched/broken
I waited for almost 8 years before I finally got my hands on the correct timing cover, and about 3 weeks later my DOHC ZC said "I quit" and let go as it was getting smogged
And yes, that is really the only thing that is really difficult to get a hold of.
