I have a 01 Prelude and the car is not starting. When you go to turn the key it doesn't crank but all I get is a humming/buzzing/whining noise from the engine bay. I have replaced the starter thinking that was the problem and still having same issue. I hear the main relay click when i turn the key to the "on" position. I took the dizzy cap off and I can see the rotor turning(thinking maybe the engine seized up so its not turning) and I checked for spark on all the wires. I checked all the grounds.

What else should I check? Any help would be appreciated.

Search for "immobilizer" and verify if your model uses this security system. Is there a key flashing on your dash (like the other HT member)? And have you used a RED key to try to start your car recently?

Did you find out if your car is equipped with the "immobilizer"? also, it would be helpful if you had someone else try to start the car while you listen around the engine bay to pinpoint the noise.

and have you cleaned/tightened your battery terminals? (find out if yours has an immobilizer before you disconnect the battery!!!....i have no idea if disconnecting will trip a security issue!!!)
