questions about this bumper i picked up...
I picked up this front bumper, and the guy swears it's off of a 95 accord, yet at first glace you can see the lower "grill" portion of the bumper is not missing allowing for the 94/95 lip to be installed, yet still has the indentation that the 94/95 bumpers had that the 96/97's didn't as far as i've seen from pictures...so can somebody settle this issue for me?

That is a beat up OBD1 94/95 bumper. If you get a 94/95 lip you will see how that lower grill (back part) disappears. The lip covers it!
Beat up is a severe understatement, it was 7:30 and rainy when i picked it up from him and it looked alright when i grabbed it, wanting to get out of the pouring rain i just gave him the $20 and was on my way...wasn't until i got it home and in my garage that i kicked myself in the a$$. So it might take some persuasion to get my lip to fit on this bumper? I got quoted $250 to have the bumper repaired and painted, but at the moment is just out of my price range, so i think i'll sand it and attack the flaws and then primer it and wait till i have the money to buy a small amount of paint just enough to spray this and paint it myself.
That being said, any tips on fixing that deep crack shown in the first 2 pictures? i've found the bondo bumper filler for the smaller stuff but i'm not sure if it'd work for that. And i'm at a loss for fixing the bottom part thats twisted

Check the junkyard for one in better shape than that one.... I wouldn't spend my time trying to fix it unless I had access to a plastic welder...... Hard to tell what it's going to take to get that twist out of it. Might be as simple as letting it hang on the bumper in the sun??????
I would imaging that if you use the bondo it will eventually crack being that large of a crack. If you use a fibreglass mat behind and then fill the front that might work.... I'm just shooting in the dark here. I'm not a body guy so you'll have to wait for someone else to chime in on that one.

yeah, that's what i've been looking into now, you take a flexible epoxy and screen door mesh, and cut it out to go over the crack on the back side of the bumper, take the front, and apply the epoxy to the back, lay the mesh on, and put some more epoxy to hold it in good, and then just go at the front with some bumper filler and flexible putty and from there it should be ready for primer and paint...I'm considering attempting to use a heat gun to try and heat the bumper without melting it and trying to twist it out that way, sort of like the hanging technique you were talking about.
The site i saw the technique with the screen mesh also said that once this was done it held up stronger then the surrounding non-cracked portions of the bumper, so it might be the way i have to go

u used harbor freights heat gun to repair twisted bumpers. you can almost twist and bend it any way you want. not sure if you have a air compressor handy but ill heat the bumper almost to hot to touch then pull push do what ever you need to, hold it in position then blast it with cold air to cool it down and help hold its shape. hope that helps good luck. with every bad deal you tend to learn something wether its rebuilding a motor or learning to repair a bumper just another notch on the belt good luck
