I did some searching, but I couldn't find anything similar to my issue. So here is my issue, I have a LS/VTEC (B18B1 bottom with B16A head) using the Golden Eagle VTEC conversion kit to supply oil to the head. I have good oil pressure on load about 80 psi, but right at VTEC crossover 5300 it drops about 20 psi causing VTEC to not engage then all of a sudden it jumps back to 80. I have replaced the o-ring on the "black box" since it was bad and even put a new oil pump, but the issue still exists. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Perhaps the VTEC solenoid is acting up. Even if there are no CELs, that doesn't mean it's functioning properly.

 

I will test the solenoid, but how would that make the oil pressure drop?

 

So is it an oil pressure issue or an oil pressure issue caused by the GE kit?

 

do you have the o-ring under the #3 cam cap?

 

I just mentioned the GE kit so you guys would know how the oil was getting to the head, but I'm not ruling it out. Never heard any issues with the kit though.

Yes the o-ring is there.
